Description: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. In MS, the immune system attacks the myelin sheath, the protective covering of nerve fibers. This damage disrupts communication between the brain and the body, leading to a wide range of symptoms. These symptoms vary widely depending on the location and severity of the damage, but can include vision problems, muscle weakness, numbness, tingling, balance problems, and cognitive difficulties. There is currently no cure for MS, but treatments are available to manage symptoms and slow disease progression.
