Description: Symfony is a high-performance PHP framework for building web applications, APIs, microservices, and web services. It's an open-source project with a large and active community. The core features are centered around the HTTP specification, making it a request/response framework rather than strictly following the Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern. While it has MVC aspects, it's not solely defined by that paradigm. Symfony offers many reusable PHP components and provides features like: Powerful Routing, Advanced Templating Engine (Twig), Integration with other Open Source Projects (Monolog, Assetic, Doctrine, and Propel), Extensibility through Bundles, Flexible Configuration (YAML, XML, annotations, and PHP), and High-Quality Components (DependencyInjection, EventDispatcher, HttpFoundation, and more). Symfony2 is an older version; the current version is much more advanced and feature-rich. While the core concepts remain similar, many improvements and updates have been made since Symfony2.
