Brand Details

Type: Product

Description: Greenplum is a massively parallel processing (MPP) SQL database built upon PostgreSQL. It's designed for handling very large datasets (terabytes to petabytes) for data warehousing and analytics. The system distributes the workload across multiple servers, significantly speeding up processing compared to single-machine databases. While initially open-source, as of May 2024, future releases are closed-source and part of the VMware Tanzu Data Suite (following VMware's acquisition by Broadcom). Greenplum's capabilities extend to business intelligence (BI) and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
