Description: The Wii U was a home video game console manufactured by Nintendo. Released in late 2012, it was Nintendo's successor to the Wii and competed against the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Key features included a unique GamePad controller which offered off-TV play and additional functionalities. Beyond gaming, it also offered access to various online services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, and YouTube, as well as Miiverse, a social networking platform. The Wii U was discontinued on January 31, 2017. There is no single, currently active official website for the Wii U. Nintendo's main website may contain information about the console but it is no longer actively supported and marketed. Several fan-created websites offer information and resources for the system but their reliability varies.
