Description: PGlite is a lightweight version of the PostgreSQL database management system built using WebAssembly (WASM) and packaged as a TypeScript library. This allows you to run a Postgres database directly in a JavaScript environment (browser, Node.js, Bun, Deno) without needing additional dependencies. It's remarkably small (under 3MB gzipped), and unlike other "Postgres in the browser" solutions, it doesn't rely on a virtual machine; it's a direct WASM compilation. PGlite supports persistence to the file system (Node.js, Bun) or IndexedDB (browser), offers extensibility with dynamic extension loading (including support for pgvector), and features built-in support for synchronous and live query primitives. It can be used as an in-memory database or a persistent database.
